Free online courses offered by the Federal Government

O Federal government offers free online courses for people who are looking for professional training, but do not have the financial resources to afford the classes. Interested in studying at a distance, they can use the portals of the Federal Government, the National Congress and Federal Institutes that offer educational content in different areas of knowledge. 

O Tech Everything gathered some of the sites to access the courses.  

Virtual School

The Federal Government's distance education portal, Virtual School offers training courses in areas such as People Management, Public Policy, Innovation, Finance, Statistics and Information Technology. For those who wish to delve into a specific area, the platform offers training programs, that is, groupings of courses on related topics. At the end of classes, students can issue a certificate.

Câmara dos Deputados

The Chamber of Deputies has a education platform the distance turned to public servants and to society in general. Named Eleve, the portal offers courses on financial education, project management and constitutional law, among other topics.

While some courses are accompanied by tutors, others are self-taught. In both cases, the platform allows you to take knowledge tests and comment on discussion forums to answer questions about the discipline. All courses offer a certificate for those who obtain at least 70% of the total grade.

Brazilian Legislative Institute

Like the Chamber of Deputies, the Federal Senate also offers free online courses. Among the subjects taught at the Brazilian Legislative Institute are: Contemporary Politics; Theory and History of International Relations; Introduction to Constitutional Law and Ethics in Public Administration. Students have 60 days to complete the lessons and can issue a certificate at the end of the course, as long as they have at least 70% of the final evaluation.

Ministry of Citizenship

O Training Portal of the Ministry of Citizenship it is a virtual learning space for professionals in the portfolio and also for citizens interested in the topics addressed by the ministry. The courses are distributed according to the following themes: Social Assistance; Single Registration and Bolsa Família Program; Evaluation, Information Management and Planning; Happy Child and Brazil Friend of the Elderly; Food and nutrition security.

To participate in the classes it is necessary to register on the platform and complete all the fields requested in the registration. Students have the autonomy to dictate the pace of learning, since the courses are self-instructional, but they need to finish their activities within the closing time of the class. After taking the final exam, the participant will be able to issue the certificate of completion of the course.

All for All

Federal Government initiative to support the fight against the new coronavirus pandemic. The platform All for All brings together more than 670 online courses from different educational institutions. The idea is that workers and entrepreneurs can take advantage of the quarantine to invest in free professional training.

It is possible to filter courses by thematic area - basic skills, commerce, industry and entrepreneurship, for example - or educational institution. Google, Fundação Getúlio Vargas, Microsoft, Sebrae and Senai are among the entities that joined the initiative.

It is important to note that, as the Todos por Todos page is a content aggregator, students need to register on the website of the respective educational institutions. Certificate issuance is also subject to the criteria of the institutions.
