UBER suspends Uber Pool

Uber will suspend the shared travel modality, Uber Pool, in Brazil. The move had already been taken last week in the US and Canada. The idea aims to reduce the user's contact with unknown people and, thus, minimize the risks of contracting the new coronavirus.

Another measure, recently adopted by the company to help deal with this pandemic, is offering financial assistance to drivers and delivery partners who are diagnosed with Covid-19.

These people will have their accounts blocked for 14 days if there is evidence of contagion or contact with individuals who have the virus. During the blocking period, these employees will receive a financial benefit, which will extend over the days that the account is blocked.

In addition, Uber is committed to "providing resources" to assist its drivers, such as the delivery of alcohol gel bottles, which allows for the constant cleaning of vehicles. Regarding deliveries of Uber Eats, customers can request that the delivery person leave the order at the door of the residence or at the entrance to the address indicated, all to avoid human contact. In an interview with Olhar Digital, the company stated that: “Our focus is to help slow the spread of coronavirus in our cities. With that in mind, we are suspending the Uber Juntos shared travel category in Brazil. We remain in close contact with the authorities and will continue to work with them to support efforts against the epidemic."
